Shri L.M.P. Singh has been one of the best LIS professional and Academic Library Administrator in the country having about 42 years of experience as a librarian, teacher, administrator and researcher. He devoted his whole life to the library profession and its development. Shri Singh joined Banaras Hindu University on 9th July 1959 as a Senior Library Assistant and was appointed Assistant Librarian (Professional Junior) in May 1962.
In March 1976 he joined the post of Deputy Librarian and resumed the charge of the Office of the University Librarian of the Banaras Hindu University Library System in May 1988 and continued on this post till his superannuation on 30th June 1996. After his retirement, he served BHU Library as consultant. He was associated with Rajarshi Tandon Open University, Allahabad as Senior Consultant during 2005-2009 . He is a Life Member of several Professional bodies such as, ILA, IASLIC, UPLA etc. He has written books and edited volumes.
